How to find your Shopify collaborator request code
When a Shopify Partner needs to help with your store, you can grant access through a collaborator request. Here is how to find the four-digit code and review the request before approving it.
What does the code do?
The code allows a partner to request access to your store for work on apps, themes, products or other settings. You decide which permissions the partner receives.
Sharing the code does not grant access. The partner first submits a request for you to review and approve. Do not share your own login or password.
Find the code in Shopify admin
- Log in to your store’s Shopify admin.
- Go to Settings → Users → Security.
- Find the collaborators section and its four-digit request code.
- Copy the code and share it with the partner you want to work with.
You can generate a new code in the same section. Shopify creates the code and invalidates the previous one. Generating a new code does not change access already approved.
Review and approve the request
Once the partner has submitted a request, review it under Settings → Users. Check the partner’s identity and make sure the requested permissions match the agreed work. Adjust them before approving if necessary.
Shopify normally requires a collaborator request code. An exception can apply to a partner that already has its own app installed in the store. Follow Shopify’s current instructions rather than older guides describing an option to let anyone submit requests.
When the work is complete, review and remove access that is no longer needed in user settings.
