The cost of Shopify theme customization depends on the behaviour you need, what the current theme already supports and the testing required around it. A visual reference is useful, but a quote also needs page types, interactions, app dependencies and acceptance criteria. There is no responsible universal price for “customize my theme.”
Identify which kind of change you need
| Change | Typical scope to establish | What can add work |
|---|---|---|
| Theme-editor configuration | Existing settings, blocks, content and template assignment | Required behaviour is absent or an app controls the section |
| Custom section or product feature | Design, data source, interaction and responsive behaviour | Variants, selling plans, accessibility and app integration |
| Template redesign or rebuild | Shared components, content migration, navigation and buying journeys | Multiple templates, markets, integrations and launch coordination |
Three example briefs
These examples are illustrative scopes, not ZAGO price offers or completed client work.
Change an existing section. Reorder content and adjust spacing on the default collection template using existing settings. Acceptance: the approved content order works at agreed desktop and mobile widths. If the theme already supports it, no new section may be needed.
Add product-specific specifications. Read structured product data, show only populated rows and support merchant editing. Acceptance must cover an empty product, a full product, long values and mobile layout. Content entry and data cleanup should be included or explicitly excluded.
Build a curated product section. Show different add-ons per product while retaining a separate related-products block. First check native complementary recommendations; custom work may only be needed for the unsupported presentation or logic.
What a comparable quote should contain
- Pages/templates and data sources included.
- Design and content responsibilities, including image assets.
- App, checkout and subscription dependencies.
- Browser/device and accessibility checks relevant to the change.
- Review rounds, acceptance criteria, deployment and rollback responsibilities.
- Handover, documentation and maintenance assumptions.
Separate delivery cost from ongoing app subscriptions and later support. “A section” can mean a static image-and-text block or a feature involving several systems; comparing only those labels hides the real difference.
Use proof without inventing a budget
The Zermaz project shows ZAGO’s storefront work, including galleries and structured specifications. It does not establish the cost of your project. Your existing theme, content, markets and required behaviour still need assessment.
To request a defined Shopify development scope, send your store URL, theme, affected pages, current and desired behaviour, reference images, connected apps and target timing. Identify the must-have result first. If the behaviour is uncertain, investigation may be needed before an implementation estimate.
